Itās been a week full of progress, milestones, and a few proud moments here at Pentland Ponies.
Our gentle giant Archie, the 17.2hh Irish Sports Horse, headed out on his very first hack. At just six years old,
weāre taking it slow with him. He was led around the ride before being ridden, and he handled the new sights and sounds like a pro. Weāre really excited to see how he comes on as heās gradually brought into work ā heās already a favourite with his steady, kind nature.

DoraĀ had a breakthrough week too ā she completed her first gate on a hackĀ and has been working hard at the mounting block, helping her riders get on with growing independence. These small wins are big steps forward in her journey, and weāre so proud of her progress.
Our sharersĀ also took to the hills this week, enjoying a big hack through Glencorse Reservoir, with sweeping views, peaceful trails, and even some waterfalls along the way. It was the perfect chance for riders and horses to unwind, explore, and enjoy everything our beautiful setting has to offer.

On the farm side of things, weāre celebrating the arrival of eggs from our last batch of homebred pullets! These young hens ā raised right here at Castlemains with our own cockerel ā have just started laying over the past couple of weeks. Weāre getting a gorgeous variety of egg colours, and itās so rewarding to see them thrive.
Weāre also pleased to say that our fresh free-range eggsĀ continue to be a hit! We bring them up from Castlemains Farm, and theyāre available at the yard for Ā£2.50 per box of 6. Youāll find them in the tack roomĀ ā but be quick, theyāve been selling fast!
On the practical side, weāve had a long-awaited upgrade ā a brand new automatic drinkerĀ has been installed in Lymphoy 3 field. Itās already making life easier for those on watering duty and keeping our horses happy and hydrated.
Thanks to all of our riders, sharers, helpers, and supporters for another rewarding week at Pentland Ponies. See you next week for more pony adventures, progress, and plenty of fresh eggs!
