Itās been another busy week here at Pentland Ponies as we continue to care for our herd and keep everyone happy, healthy and ready for their next adventure!
š§² Farrier Visits ā Regular Hoof Care for Happy Ponies
Our farrier has been back on the yard again this week ā as he is most weeks ā to keep our poniesā hooves in great shape. Depending on the individual pony, theyāre seen every 4 to 8 weeks for a trim or a check-up. Regular farrier visits are essential for comfort, balance and overall wellbeing. Some of our ponies are barefoot, while others wear shoes depending on their workload and hoof needs. We're lucky to have a patient, knowledgeable farrier who works closely with us to keep everyone sound and comfortable.
š± Grazing Adjustments ā Smaller Paddocks for a Calmer Mind
You may have noticed that some ponies are now in smaller paddocks. This change helps us manage their energy levels and behaviour, especially during the summer when the grass is rich. Too much grass can lead to excitable or unsettled behaviour, which makes it harder for the ponies to concentrate during their sessions. By reducing their grass intake and giving them more structured turnout, weāre helping them stay calm, focused, and more settled for their work.
š Doraās Doing Brilliantly!
Weāre really pleased with how Dora is progressing in her training. Sheās been getting more consistent in her ridden work and has been a lovely, steady presence out on the yard. Sheās listening well, building trust, and showing a fantastic attitude to learning. Weāre excited to see how she continues to develop as part of the Pentland Ponies team.

š¶ Starās Special News!
Many of you will remember Star, who used to be part of the herd here at Pentland Ponies. Weāre thrilled to share that she has now safely delivered a gorgeous foal at our second site, Castlemains Farm! Mum and baby are doing well, and weāre so proud to see Star starting this new chapter. Keep an eye on our Castlemains socials and blog for updates and pictures!
Thanks as always for following along and supporting our herd ā weāll be back with more updates soon!
